I'm not a real fan of black pepper in general, and I certainly don't like it on my brownies and ice cream. I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and guess that most of you wouldn't like it either. So I banned Trooper from the kitchen, and I may or may not have dusted the brownies off into the garbage can with a dry towel, and then wiped them down with a damp napkin before I covered them with ice cream.
2. A couple of weeks ago I wanted to sell an old shape sorter toy, but I couldn't find the shapes to go in it. I looked everywhere (I thought) and finally gave up. I threw out the shape sorter, figuring the shapes had already met a similar fate without my knowing. They HAD disappeared while I was at camp, so there was no telling. Today I found the shapes in a seldom used book bag. Why? Maybe the shapes were planning a vacation, or even just a day trip to the library. Maybe they saw Trooper with the scissors, had a Toy Story moment, and were trying to escape.
3. Trooper opened up a little Disney Princess bubble carriage thingamajig that was supposed to be for someone else (a girl, in fact), but since it was open I let him roll the little carriage on the floor. He kept asking me the names of the princesses in the carriage windows, but I only recognized Ariel, Tiana, and Belle. All the blond ones looked the same to me. Is that some kind of self-racism, or something? Or does Disney need to expand its idea of perfect so they don't all look the same? Anyway, it was a little weird to see Trooper getting so involved in a Disney Princess toy, but I've always been adamant about letting him play with all kinds of toys, so I didn't say anything. Minutes later, he slipped right back into stereotypical boy mode; he kept playing with the bubble carriage, but he rolled it in front of the vacuum as I cleaned the floor, screaming to make it sound like the girls inside were writhing in roller brush induced agony, or at least terror. And then he went back to playing guns with his thumb and finger.
Next week I'll tell the grossest thing he's ever done, but right now my stomach is full and it wouldn't be a good idea to think about it too hard. If you haven't subscribed to this blog, yet, please do, here.
